The Opportunity

As Business Development Manager - Utilities, you'll drive new business growth for Gallagher Security throughout the Americas, with a focus on oil & gas, energy, and water & wastewater. You'll identify and win new customers, build trusted relationships with key decision-makers, and help organisations protect the critical infrastructure they rely on.

This is a true new-business role for someone who loves getting out into the market, opening new doors, and turning opportunities into long-term customer relationships. You'll own the full sales cycle from prospecting through to close, working alongside our regional sales teams, channel partners, consultants, and technical specialists to solve real customer challenges.

This is a remote role based in the USA. Travel is a big part of the job (up to three times a month, depending on business needs), so you'll need to be flexible with travel, and being within easy reach of a major airport is preferred.

What You'll Do

  • Win net-new customers across the Utilities sector, including oil & gas, energy, and water & wastewater.

  • Proactively build and manage a strong pipeline through outbound prospecting, cold calling, networking, customer visits, and industry events.

  • Develop trusted relationships with end users and key industry stakeholders.

  • Get to know your customers' security challenges and partner with technical specialists to shape value-led solutions.

  • Deliver engaging presentations that clearly show the value of Gallagher's solutions.

  • Collaborate with regional sales teams, channel partners, and consultants to move opportunities forward.

  • Support RFPs, tenders, and proposals to help secure new projects.

  • Keep your pipeline, activity, and forecasting up to date in CRM.

What You'll Bring

You're a proactive business developer who enjoys creating opportunities, rather than waiting for them to come to you. You're comfortable starting conversations with prospective customers, building credibility with senior stakeholders, and staying close to an opportunity through a longer, solution-based sales cycle.

We're looking for someone with:

  • 5+ years' experience in B2B sales or business development, ideally within security, technology, or a related solutions-based environment.

  • Based in the USA and flexible with travel (up to three times per month), ideally within easy reach of a major airport.

  • A proven track record of winning new business and consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets.

  • Experience managing a full, solution-based sales cycle, from first conversation through to close.

  • Confidence with outbound prospecting and cold calling, and a genuine drive to open new doors.

  • The ability to understand technical solutions and explain them clearly to a range of stakeholders.

  • Strong relationship-building, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the confidence to engage senior decision-makers.

  • Experience in utilities, oil & gas, energy, water & wastewater, or critical infrastructure is highly regarded.

  • A background in physical security, access control, or related technology is a bonus.

  • A collaborative approach and comfort using CRM to manage your pipeline and forecasting.
