Proofreader + line editor: 243-page parenting nonfiction book, typeset PDF, 7-day turnaround

I am launching a 243-page parenting nonfiction book on Amazon KDP on November 25. The manuscript has been through three copy-edit passes and a full developmental review. I need one experienced editor for the final pass: proofreading plus light line editing on the typeset PDF, with a 7-day turnaround.

THE BOOK

- The Million Dollar Mindset: a 90-day Vedic math and mindset program for parents of kids 10-17

- 243 pages, 6x9, 11 chapters plus front and back matter, about 34 endnote markers, 60-80 styled callout boxes

- Fonts: Playfair Display (headings), Inter (body), Caveat (handwritten notes)

WHAT I NEED YOU TO DO

1. Proofread the typeset PDF: residual typos, punctuation, capitalization, number and hyphenation consistency

2. Light line editing: flag sentences that are clunky, repetitive, or unclear, and suggest a tighter version. Keep my voice. Simple words, short sentences, no filler

3. Layout check: widows, orphans, bad line breaks, running heads, page numbers, callout boxes that broke across pages

4. TOC and cross-references: every TOC page number and every "see Chapter X" points to the right place

5. Endnote markers: each superscript lands cleanly and numbering restarts correctly per chapter

DELIVERABLE

- A marked-up PDF (comments and highlights) or a Word/Excel list with page number, the issue, and your suggested fix

- Line-edit suggestions as comments, not rewrites. I apply the changes myself

- Turnaround: 7 days from when you receive the file

OUT OF SCOPE

- Developmental or structural feedback (done)

- Fact-checking (separate project)

- Redesigning callouts; just flag anything that renders wrong

TO APPLY, PLEASE INCLUDE

1. Two or three nonfiction books you proofread or line edited at the final pre-launch stage

2. How you deliver: PDF annotations, Word comments, or an issues list

3. Confirmation you can turn 243 pages around in 7 days

4. Whether you have worked on books with styled callouts or sidebars

I will send a 20-page sample PDF to shortlisted applicants so you can see the layout before you commit. Fixed price, paid on delivery of the marked-up file. If your rate for this scope is above the listed budget, quote it anyway; I am choosing on experience first.
