The Application Testing Analyst Lead will be responsible for the quality of multiple projects under development across multiple Application Delivery teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality applications and enhancements to enhance operations within Old Dominion Freight Line.

The Application Testing Analyst

Lead will work with multiple Managers of Application Delivery and their teams to understand project deliverables to lead, oversee and assist application testing analysts in the creation and execution of manual & regression (manual & automated) test cases. In coordination with the Manager Application Testing & Performance, the Application Testing Analyst Lead will be responsible for recommending, defining, implementing Quality Assurance best practices across all testing resources.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop highly effective working relationships with Delivery Managers, Developers, Business Analysts, Product Owners and members of Systems and Operations team to support the SDLC to ensure quality applications are being released to production environment
  • Communicate and interact within and across Application Delivery teams to understand the application under test, and their role within the business and impact to overall freight operations
  • Communicate and interact within and across Application Delivery teams on issues, changes, and enhancements that may impact data, workflow and/or functionality across applications
  • Document, develop, and enhance new and existing quality assurance standards for software testing that are aligned with industry best practices. This includes models for building software test plans and test scripts
  • Efficiently manage personal time to prioritize work and multi-task across several project assignments
  • Organize, lead, and monitor multiple priorities and projects on an ongoing basis, evaluating progress and quality, managing risks/issues, and taking corrective action as necessary to meet project deadlines
  • Consolidate and report QA deliverables including defects identified, test execution results, and test coverage to management team
  • With an understanding of project deliverables, lead and coordinate testing efforts with application testing team members residing both on and offsite
  • Lead and assist application testing team members in the development and execution of test cases, scripts, and procedures when necessary
  • Work with performance and automation testing team members to assist in identifying testing scenarios to be created for target applications
  • Assist in the review of test results and in working with business analyst to facilitate remediation of defects found
  • Assist in the identification of test cases that meet the regression testing candidate criteria
  • Troubleshooting and remove blockers preventing the testing team from being able to complete their tasks
  • Work with application end users to identify and address application issues in production
  • Advocate for and ensure the use of best practices in application testing
  • Assist with functional testing when needed.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably required
Job Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent education and experience in application testing
Experience:
  • 3 years of experience leading or managing application testing analysts across multiple projects
  • 7 years of total experience with hands-on participation in manual and automated testing of software applications
  • Experience in application testing in both Agile and Waterfall Agile delivery environment
  • Broad knowledge of software application testing practices around, unit, system, functional and automated regression
  • Strong attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to present ideas and solutions in user-friendly language
  • Naturally driven with a desire to contribute to the success of projects
  • Takes ownership of responsibilities seriously
  • Keen attention to detail
