YouTube Video Editor Needed | Food & Personality Content | Weekly Work
We’re launching a new YouTube food channel and are looking for an editor to help us bring it to life.
This first project will be a paid trial editing our very first episode, with the potential for ongoing weekly work if we’re a good fit.
ABOUT THE CHANNEL: The concept is simple. Beau is an Australian travelling around the world trying food along the way.
He’s not a food critic. The channel is about trying everything from foods we’ve never heard of to famous classics, unusual local favourites, fast food and places that simply make us curious.
The personality is a big part of it.
We want the videos to feel:
* Casual
* Funny
* Honest
* Entertaining
* Natural
* Personality-driven
We DON'T want it to feel like a serious restaurant review or an over edited TikTok video stretched to 10 minutes.
THE FIRST EPISODE: Beau bought every item on the Costco food court menu and tried them all.
We’ve watched through the raw footage and believe the ingredients for a great video are there.
What we’re particularly interested in is seeing how you interpret it.
We have our own ideas about how the channel could be edited, but rather than giving you a strict formula, we want to give the right editor plenty of creative freedom.
You might notice funny moments we overlook, find a better way to structure the story, create running jokes, use reactions differently, introduce graphics or rankings, or find completely different ways to make the footage entertaining.
That creativity is part of what we’re looking for.
WHAT WE NEED:
The finished videos will generally be around *8–15 minutes*.
We want the editor to take the video roughly 90% of the way to being upload ready.
That includes things like:
* Building the story from the raw footage
* Cutting unnecessary talking and repetition
* Strong pacing and retention
* Music
* Sound design where appropriate
* Basic graphics/text
* Colour correction
* Audio balancing
* Using B-roll effectively
* Finding and highlighting funny/personality moments
* Making creative editing decisions without needing instructions for every cut
We want to be able to watch the finished edit, make a few final tweaks ourselves if necessary, and upload it.
CREATIVE FREEDOM: This is important. We are deliberately not giving you a detailed editing template for the trial.
We want to see what YOU think works.
We’ll explain the idea behind the episode and anything that absolutely needs to stay, but after that we want you to use your judgement.
Our biggest priorities are:
Keep Beau's personality intact. Make the food interesting. Keep people watching.
You don't need to fill every second with effects, memes, zooms or sound effects.
Good storytelling and timing matter much more to us than flashy editing.
SOFTWARE: We edit in DaVinci Resolve, so you must also work in DaVinci Resolve and be able to send us the completed project file so we can make any final adjustments.
Our plan is to release one video every week, and we'd love to find an editor who can grow with the channel and eventually understand the style without needing constant direction. This is not intended to be a one off project IF you are the right fit for the channel.
WHEN APPLYING:
Please send us:
1. 2–3 YouTube videos you personally edited that best represent your style. Food, travel, personality-led or entertainment content is especially helpful.
2. Tell us what parts of the edit you personally completed.
3. Confirm that you edit in DaVinci Resolve.
4. Your hourly rate.
5. Roughly how many hours you would normally expect to spend editing an 8–15 minute YouTube video from raw footage.
6. Tell us briefly how you approach editing personality driven YouTube videos.
7. To show us you’ve read the full post properly, please start your application with your favourite food.
Please don't send us a huge generic portfolio.
We'd much rather watch two videos you're genuinely proud of.
If you're someone who enjoys being given good footage and the freedom to turn it into something better than we expected, we'd love to hear from you.
