About UPS & Our Culture

UPS builds its management talent from the inside out. The Warehouse Supervisor role is the first management position on the UPS operations career ladder — a salaried, non-union role responsible for leading sort teams and hitting shift-level throughput targets in our package center. If you have been surveying UPS warehouse jobs with a leadership trajectory in mind, this is where the ladder begins to climb steeply. UPS's internal promotion culture is one of the strongest in all of logistics careers, and most of our senior operations leaders started exactly here.

What Our Team Says (Employee Reviews)

"Moving from part-time handler to Warehouse Supervisor was the best career decision I ever made. UPS gave me real leadership training, real accountability, and a real salary. Within 18 months I was promoted to full operations manager. The internal track at UPS moves faster than any warehouse job environment I have ever seen — if you perform, they reward you quickly." - Current Operations Manager, Former Warehouse Supervisor, Phoenix, AZ.

Role Overview & Responsibilities

As a UPS Warehouse Supervisor, you lead a team of 15 to 40 hourly associates through a sort shift inside our package center, managing productivity, safety compliance, and associate development simultaneously while holding your area to strict throughput standards.

  • Shift Leadership & Productivity Management: Conduct pre-shift meetings, assign associates to positions, monitor real-time productivity data on the operations dashboard, and deploy staffing adjustments the moment throughput trends below target.
  • Safety Culture Enforcement: Audit your area constantly for unsafe conditions, equipment misuse, and method compliance failures, correcting behavior immediately and documenting safety observations per UPS compliance policy.
  • Associate Performance Development: Deliver structured performance coaching to hourly associates, documenting attendance and productivity conversations in UPS's HR system and escalating progressive discipline situations to the Operations Manager promptly.

Benefits & Perks

UPS Warehouse Supervisors receive a competitive annual salary, full company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and direct access to UPS's accelerated management development programs — including the management training curriculum that feeds directly into district and division operations leadership.
