Trainee Accountant

Accountancy Firm: Headquarters based in Central London, (Nationwide office locations available across the UK)  Salary: £39,500 per annum at entry level. Following successful completion of the ACCA qualification and progression to fully chartered status within the firm, the salary will increase to £46,000 per annum.  The Position: An established accountancy practice is looking for a Trainee Accountant to join its expanding finance team. This opportunity is aimed at someone who wants to develop practical accounting experience while working towards a recognised professional qualification. You will be introduced to a broad range of accounting activities and work alongside experienced members of the practice on assignments for different types of clients. The role provides an opportunity to develop your understanding of how accounts are prepared, financial information is reviewed and tax and reporting obligations are managed. You will initially work under supervision, with responsibility increasing as your technical knowledge and confidence develop. The firm places a strong emphasis on practical learning, meaning you will have the opportunity to apply what you learn directly within your day-to-day work. What You Will Work On Your responsibilities will develop throughout the training period and are expected to include: Preparing information and supporting documentation for annual accounts. Assisting with accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. Helping compile personal tax returns and corporation tax calculations. Supporting the preparation and submission of VAT returns. Recording and reconciling financial transactions across client accounts. Assisting with bookkeeping and maintaining up-to-date accounting records. Processing journals and helping with ledger maintenance. Supporting monthly and annual financial close procedures. Preparing financial information for management reporting. Reviewing figures and investigating discrepancies where required. Assisting senior accountants with client assignments and reporting deadlines. Providing information required for audit and compliance work. Carrying out basic financial analysis and investigating variations in performance. Communicating with clients and colleagues regarding routine accounting matters. Ensuring work is completed accurately and in accordance with relevant procedures. Who This Role Suits The firm is looking for an individual who is organised, dependable and comfortable working with financial information. You should have: A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline, or an equivalent academic background. A certification in compliance for accountants. Previous exposure to accounting systems such as IRIS, Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks is beneficial. Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data accurately. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and client-focused approach. Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet strict deadlines. High attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and develop within the accountancy profession. You will receive support as you work towards the ACCA qualification, with the firm covering examination fees and providing access to relevant learning resources. Interview with the Hiring Manager, including discussion of your accounting knowledge and approach to the role. Final meeting with the Finance Director.
