Staff Android Engineer – Pick & Deliver

Job Description:

  • Lead the technical direction and execution of Android experiences supporting retailers and shoppers throughout all phases of order picking
  • Design, build, test, and maintain Android applications using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, and RxJava
  • Partner with Product, Design, Backend Engineering, iOS Engineering, retailers, and external vendors to define solutions
  • Own projects from technical discovery through delivery while balancing retailer priorities with platform health, scalability, and maintainability
  • Improve application performance, reliability, observability, and developer experience through profiling, instrumentation, architectural improvements, and technical debt reduction
  • Facilitate design discussions, mentor engineers, establish engineering best practices, and support durable technical decisions
  • Contribute to roadmaps covering new picking models, retailer and market expansion, Android platform investments, and operational scale

Requirements:

  • At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial experience developing and shipping Android applications
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, and reactive programming with RxJava or an equivalent framework
  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional software projects from design through production launch
  • Experience designing maintainable Android architectures
  • Experience improving application performance, reliability, testing, monitoring, or observability
  • Ability to partner with Product, Design, Backend Engineering, iOS Engineering, and external stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Preferred: experience in retail, logistics, fulfillment, delivery, workforce, or other operational environments
  • Preferred: experience supporting multiple product teams, retailers, markets, or high-priority initiatives simultaneously
  • Preferred: Android performance profiling, startup optimization, crash reduction, instrumentation, or large-scale observability
  • Preferred: mobile platform strategy, shared components, developer tooling, or migration to modern Android technologies
  • Preferred: mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction across teams
  • Preferred: working with external partners, vendors, or enterprise customers
