The trust Currently provides a service for over 110,000 annual emergency department (ED) patient attendances.</p><p><br>The Department currently has 4 Resus bays, 4 High care bays, 13 majors cubicles, a separate minors area with 5 consulting rooms. The department has an audio-visually separate paediatric waiting area with 3 paediatric cubicles.</p><p>Has a designated Trauma Unit within the BBCHW Trauma Network. It offers PPCI and Vascular Surgery and inpatient ENT and Maxillofacial Surgery and countywide Hyperacute Stroke Service.</p><p>has a consistently strong record in delivery of education and training to junior doctors in Emergency Medicine (EM). The ED has recently been successful in a bid for newly commissioned ST3 and ACCS posts to complement our current ST4+ training post as well as piloting the innovative Clinical Educator role.</p><p>The Directorate also have a consultant body with experience in supporting the CESR programme.</p><p>The Consultant body are a committed unit with the following interests/skills already within the team:</p><ul><li>Dual Accreditation PEM/EM</li><li>Level 2 Ultrasound</li><li>ALS/APLS/EPLS/ATLS/ETC Instructor Status</li><li>FRCEM/MRCEM Examiner</li><li>RCEM QEC Best Practice Committee Representative</li><li>Human Factors Training</li><li>Postgraduate Medical Education</li><li>Silver Trauma and Research</li></ul>Main Responsibilities<p><strong>Clinical</strong></p><ul><li>To offer opinion on the full breath of common and less common presenting conditions to the emergency department in the UK healthcare setting.</li><li>to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients</li><li>Able to lead a resuscitation or trauma team with indirect supervision or support from a senior clinician.</li><li>Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.</li><li>Knowledge in subspecialties e.g. Trauma & Orthopaedics</li><li>To cover a full shift roster in the Emergency Department with a balanced mix of earlies, lates and nights.</li><li>To contribute to the delivery of departmental, trust and national objectives.</li></ul><p><strong>Organisational</strong></p><ul><li>To provide support for the effective development of the service.</li><li>To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).</li><li>To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.</li><li>To further develop clinical protocols, guidelines, and concise care bundles.</li><li>To carry out responsibilities with due regard to the Trust’s Equal Opportunities Policy.</li><li>To ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard.</li><li>Ability to support the senior doctor in the management a shift in the ED working collaboratively with the nurse-in-charge and the multi-disciplinary team</li></ul>The Ideal Candidate<ul><li>MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.</li><li>MRCEM or FRCEM primary and intermediate desirable</li><li>GMC in Process</li></ul><ul><li>At least 2 years of experience must be in Emergency Medicine or a recognised equivalent training or the doctor must be able to demonstrate achievement of the necessary equivalent competencies.</li></ul>
