Kitchen Assistant – Bakery & Pastry Shop

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our Bakery & Pastry Shop team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a vibrant culinary environment, supporting the preparation and presentation of a variety of baked goods and pastries. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, excellent organisational skills, and a keen eye for safety and hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of bakery items and pastries according to recipes and quality standards
  • Support the food preparation process, ensuring ingredients are measured, prepared, and stored correctly
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including work surfaces, utensils, and equipment
  • Help with the organisation of ingredients and supplies to ensure smooth kitchen operations
  • Follow food safety regulations and hygiene practices at all times
  • Assist with serving customers when required, providing friendly and efficient service
  • Support the team during busy periods by helping with additional tasks as needed
  • Ensure all health and safety guidelines are adhered to within the kitchen environment
Skills
  • Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
  • Basic understanding of meal preparation and food handling techniques
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • Good communication skills and a friendly demeanour when serving customers
  • Willingness to learn new skills and work collaboratively within a team
  • Experience in culinary arts or kitchen experience is advantageous but not mandatory
