Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham. The Role;

We are seeking three experienced, pragmatic and highly organised HR Business Partner to join the HR team at Newham College. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping the culture here at Newham College!

This is an exciting new opportunity to join a high performing HR team. You will be joining the team at a time of real culture change. The HR Business Partner will be instamental in ensuring the culture is truly embedded within the College and delivering a high quality HR service to colleagues within the College, supporting our drive to be the employer of choice within Newham and the FE sector.

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) plays a key role in providing a pro-active, operational, professional, and efficient HR service ensuring policies, procedures, legislation and best practice are adhered to, and works collaboratively with business stakeholders to identify risk associated with organisational people decisions.

The HRBP will contribute to the effectiveness of HR service delivery and will be an active participant and role model in relation to the day-to-day operational work of the HR team. They will take accountability of the full employee life cycle for their designated areas of responsibility.

Key responsibilities.

  • Provide professional HR business partnering support to managers across the College.
  • Lead and manage employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management, redundancy and organisational change processes.
  • Coach, support and challenge managers to ensure effective people management and compliance with employment legislation and College policies.
  • Develop, implement and embed HR policies, procedures and best practice across the organisation.
  • Support recruitment and workforce planning activities throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Lead on restructures, reorganisations, contractual changes and redundancy consultations.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to proactively identify and resolve people-related issues.
  • Analyse HR data and produce management reports to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee HR systems, records and payroll changes, ensuring data accuracy and compliance.
  • Deliver training, guidance and development support to managers on HR matters.
  • Line manage and develop the HR Coordinator.
  • Lead HR projects and deputise for the Director of HR Operations when required.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive and high-performing culture across the College.

Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience.

  • Experience in a HR Business Partnering role
  • Excellent IT proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A willing attitude

We have three roles:

2 x Permanent, full time, 36 hours per week

1 x Fixed Term until August 2027, full time, 36 hours per week

The salary for this position is inclusive of London weighting. Please note that it is Newham College's policy to offer all roles at the entry point of the salary scale advertised. However, based on your qualifications and experience, we may offer a higher starting salary within the specified salary range.
