Email Designer, CRM Marketing

As the Email Designer, CRM Marketing, you will lead the visual design, user experience, and creative asset production for all email communications across the donor lifecycle. Sitting within the Digital Experience team, you will bridge brand strategy and user experience — designing high-converting, mobile-first email layouts, graphic assets, and reusable design systems optimized for Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) Content Builder.

You will report to the Senior Manager, CRM Lifecycle Strategy, with no direct reports.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Visual & UX Design – Design engaging, mobile-first email layouts, hero images, graphics, and animated assets that align with brand guidelines and drive donor action. Apply email-specific UI/UX best practices, typography hierarchy, and accessibility standards (ADA/WCAG).
  • SFMC Content Builder Architecture – Build, format, and maintain a library of modular, reusable content blocks and design templates directly within SFMC Content Builder. Ensure visual assets are optimized for fast load times and clean cross-client rendering.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Partner closely with Lifecycle Strategy, Creative, and Branding teams to maintain a cohesive tone, look, and feel across all lifecycle touchpoints. Work in tandem with the SFMC Email Developer to hand off design assets and ensure visual fidelity in final coded templates.
  • Design Optimization & Testing – Develop creative concepts for A/B testing (e.g., visual hierarchy, CTA placement, imagery vs. vector art, layout variations) to lift donor engagement metrics. Stay updated on modern digital design trends, inbox capabilities, and interactive email techniques.
  • Quality Assurance – Perform visual QA testing across dark mode, desktop, and mobile viewports to guarantee asset alignment, image clarity, and brand consistency prior to deployment.
  • Process & Asset Management – Utilize Jira to manage creative requests, track review rounds, and deliver assets on schedule. Maintain organized design files and asset libraries in Figma or Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Performs other special projects as necessary.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Web Development, Marketing Technology, or equivalent combination of education.
  • 3+ years of professional digital design experience, with a strong focus on responsive B2C email design.
  • Strong online portfolio demonstrating email design, modular design systems, typography, and visual storytelling.
  • Hands-on proficiency with design software (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch) and visual asset export optimization.
  • Direct experience working within SFMC Content Builder to construct content blocks and layout templates.
  • Solid understanding of HTML/CSS structure as it relates to email design limitations, mobile

  • Technical proficiency with marketing platforms.
  • Travel required varies but can be up to 30%.

The expected base pay for this position at hiring is $91,560 - $108,360/year. Please note this wage range reflects what CSL expects to pay for this position as of the time of this posting. Individual base pay for a successful candidate within this range is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and other relevant factors.
