Director of Media Strategy – Activation, Paid Media
Job Description:
- Build and own Dropbox's unified media strategy across brand and performance
- Set annual and quarterly investment theses, define the channel portfolio, and make media-spend tradeoff decisions
- Manage total media investment across paid search, paid social, programmatic, display, video, mobile, affiliate, and brand channels
- Own media planning, forecasting, pacing, and in-quarter budget reallocation against efficiency and growth targets
- Integrate brand and performance media through reach, frequency, creative strategy, and channel mix
- Design and run the mix of in-house capabilities and agency partnerships; own agency relationships and build internal capabilities
- Develop AI-enabled media workflows for creative production and testing, audience modeling, budget allocation, bid strategy, reporting, and quality control
- Partner with Product Growth, Sales, and Marketing Data Science to connect media signals to activation, conversion, product-qualified leads, expansion, and retention
- Partner on attribution, incrementality testing, and media mix modeling; translate performance tradeoffs into executive-ready recommendations
- Lead and grow channel and brand media leaders, clarifying ownership, measurement, and connection to revenue
Requirements:
- 10+ years in media, performance marketing, or digital marketing, with increasing scope and leadership responsibility at a high-growth B2B and/or B2C company
- 4+ years leading teams, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and organizational design
- Deep hands-on expertise across paid search, paid social, programmatic, display, video, and mobile
- Experience with planning, forecasting, budget pacing, audience design, and performance management
- Experience owning brand media alongside performance media
- Working knowledge of brand lift measurement, reach and frequency planning, and creative performance optimization
- Track record managing significant media budgets with demonstrated impact on acquisition efficiency, pipeline, or revenue
- Experience managing agency and vendor ecosystems and building in-house capabilities
- Strong analytical fluency in attribution, incrementality testing, MMM/MTA concepts, and unit economics including CAC, LTV, and payback
- Experience marketing across self-serve, product-led, and sales-assisted motions, including consumer, SMB, and mid-market segments
- Excellent executive communication
- Preferred: agency and in-house background, AI-enabled media workflows, media strategy or planning function development, modern martech and adtech stacks, measurement disruption, multi-product portfolios, and international or EMEA media experience
