Just a regular guy that hires top talent for one of UK’s largest privately held software companies.

At IRIS Software Group, we support thousands of accountancy firms across the UK through powerful, reliable software. Our Accountancy Support team plays a key role in that - helping customers get the most out of our IRIS Accountancy Suite.

We’re now hiring Customer Support Associates to join the team. If you enjoy helping people, solving problems, and want to grow your career in a supportive environment - this could be the perfect fit.

You don’t need to have worked in finance or accounting before - but if you have, or if you’ve studied it or simply have an interest in the field, that’s a bonus.

What Does This Team Do?

This team acts as the help desk for accountants using IRIS software. When a customer has a technical issue, a question, or needs guidance, you’ll be one of the first people they speak to.

You’ll work with them to understand what’s going wrong, find a solution where possible, or pass it to one of our more technical experts. Your goal? Make things easier for our customers and make sure they feel supported every step of the way.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Responding to customer queries by phone, email, or our online portal
  • Logging and investigating technical issues
  • Solving common problems using the tools and training provided
  • Escalating more complex issues to the technical support team
  • Keeping customers updated throughout their journey
  • Meeting performance targets (quality, satisfaction, and resolution times)
  • Contributing to internal documentation and knowledge base content
  • Representing IRIS with professionalism, care, and a helpful attitude

You’ll spend at least three days a week in our Slough office, with flexibility to work from home on the other days - or be in the office full-time if you prefer. It’s a supportive, friendly team environment with excellent training and mentorship.

What Are We Looking For?

This is an entry-level support role, ideal for someone looking to start or grow their career in customer service, accountancy support, or software.

We’re looking for people who are:

  • Friendly, clear communicators (on the phone and in writing)
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and learning new systems
  • Calm under pressure and naturally well organised
  • Proactive, curious, and eager to develop
  • Great team players with a helpful mindset

Experience in a customer service or support role is a big plus.

It would be helpful, but not essential, if you also have:

  • Some experience in a finance, accounting or tax-related environment
  • Or are currently studying towards a finance or accounting qualification (e.g. AAT)
  • Or have a basic understanding of accountancy principles

Whether you’ve worked in retail, admin, support, or you’ve supported a finance team or studied accounting - if you enjoy helping others and want to grow, we’ll give you all the tools and support you need to succeed.

What Can IRIS Offer You?

  • Structured onboarding and expert training
  • A hybrid working model with a modern, collaborative office
  • Clear progression paths and opportunities to develop
  • A supportive culture where questions are encouraged
  • Employee benefits including pension, wellbeing support, staff discounts and more

Many of our senior support colleagues started out in this role — so you’ll be in great company.

The Application Process

We’ve designed a supportive and inclusive process to help you shine:

Send us your CV and a short application - we’re keen to hear why you’re interested in HR and what excites you about joining IRIS.

If shortlisted, you’ll complete two short assessments that help us understand how you think and work.

  • CCAT - A quick, 15-minute timed assessment covering verbal, numerical, and logical reasoning. It’s best done somewhere quiet, with a pen and paper handy.
  • EPP - An untimed personality profile focused on your working style and approach to challenges. No right or wrong answers - just be yourself. These are widely used and designed to be fair and inclusive, helping us see beyond your CV.

A short, friendly chat over Microsoft Teams with someone from our Talent team. It’s your chance to ask questions and learn more about the role and life at IRIS.

Join us at our Slough/Heathrow Approach office (SL3 8QY) for an interactive, in-person session with other candidates (date to be confirmed). You’ll take part in team-based activities, meet our team, and get a real feel for our culture.

If you’re helpful, people-focused, and ready to take the next step - we’d love to meet you.

Apply now and start your journey with IRIS.

Common Interview Questions And Answers

1. HOW DO YOU PLAN YOUR DAY?

This is what this question poses: When do you focus and start working seriously? What are the hours you work optimally? Are you a night owl? A morning bird? Remote teams can be made up of people working on different shifts and around the world, so you won't necessarily be stuck in the 9-5 schedule if it's not for you...

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

3. WHAT IS "WORKING REMOTE" REALLY FOR YOU?

Many people want to work remotely because of the flexibility it allows. You can work anywhere and at any time of the day...

4. WHAT DO YOU NEED IN YOUR PHYSICAL WORKSPACE TO SUCCEED IN YOUR WORK?

With this question, companies are looking to see what equipment they may need to provide you with and to verify how aware you are of what remote working could mean for you physically and logistically...

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

Or you may receive even more specific questions, such as: What's on your calendar? Do you plan blocks of time to do certain types of work? Do you have an open calendar that everyone can see?...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

8. HOW TO PRIORITIZE WORK?

The day I watched Marie Forleo's film separating the important from the urgent, my life changed. Not all remote jobs start fast, but most of them are...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
